Data-Driven Plasma Science
8th International Conference on Data-Driven Plasma Science
5–9 April 2027·KAIST, Daejeon, Republic of Korea
Welcome
On behalf of the Executive Scientific Committee, we are delighted to welcome you to the 8th International Conference on Data-Driven Plasma Science (ICDDPS-8), which will be held at KAIST in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, from 5 to 9 April 2027.
Since the first meeting in York in 2018, ICDDPS has brought together the fusion, low-temperature plasma and data-science communities to explore what data-driven methods can do for plasma science. Following ICDDPS-7 in Kiel, the eighth edition brings the series to Korea for the first time — to Daejeon, a research city that is home to national programmes in fusion and a national hub of semiconductor manufacturing science.
The conference is planned as a 4.5-day event in the tradition of the series, with plenary and invited lectures, contributed talks, posters, a School of DDPS tutorial day and an industry–academia session. The conference language is English.
We hope you will join us in Daejeon in cherry-blossom season, and we look forward to welcoming you in person.

Scientific scope
ICDDPS covers the application of data science to plasma science across fusion, low-temperature and processing plasmas. ICDDPS-8 carries the scope of the series across the six topics below.
Disruption prediction, reinforcement-learning plasma control, tokamak surrogate transport models, KSTAR and ITER data
Etch and deposition modelling, virtual metrology, run-to-run and chamber-matching control, semiconductor process data
Neural operators, physics-informed networks, reduced-order models, uncertainty quantification, accelerated kinetic simulation
Image and spectral analysis, tomography, sensor fusion, automated interpretation of high-rate diagnostic streams
FAIR data practice, cross-section and reaction databases, shared benchmarks, reproducibility in plasma ML
LLM agents for experiment planning, self-driving plasma experiments, active learning and Bayesian optimisation
Important dates
Further dates will be added to this page as the committee sets them.
The series
ICDDPS began in York in 2018 and has since been held in France, Japan, the United States and Germany, with one online edition hosted from Osaka. Daejeon 2027 is the first edition held in Korea. Previous conferences
